REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of five years experience as a SAN/NAS Administrator supporting a highly available 24x7 production environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EMC Clariion/Vmax/ storage devices & EMC Configuration tools such as Navisphere and Powerpath.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Netapp & Netapp Vfilers.
  • Ability to configure and manage EMC/Brocade fabric switches.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to configure Emulex/Qlogic HBAs on Solaris/Linux/Windows servers, using tools such as SanSurfer.
  • Ability to plan and configure storage space and make it available to servers, using MetaLun technology & Qtrees.
  • Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks in parallel and prioritize between them.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Sun/Dell hardware and various operating systems such as RedHat Linux & Windows 2003 a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support services for Storage Systems & SAN switches. Responsibilities include host, storage, and switch configuration, performance analysis and corrections, disk space management and responding to hardware failures.
  • Clearly document maintenance and support procedures for routine tasks.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support.
  • Manage, maintain and enhance the SAN/NAS disk and Fibre Channel switched network infrastructure
  • Manage SAN capacity and performance using appropriate reporting & monitoring tools.
  • Action requests for new storage, working with other teams.
  • Provide input and support for infrastructure and application development projects that require storage infrastructure.
  • Ongoing evaluation and analysis of the storage infrastructure to provide optimum performance.
  • Capacity planning and metrics reporting for storage infrastructures and data retention services.
  • Support a 24 x 7 operation, and carry a cell phone / pager.

Conceptual knowledge of all and in-depth knowledge of some of the following:

  • SAN/NAS including EMC CX Series and Network Appliance.
  • Cisco and Brocade SAN Switches.
  • Raid types and appropriate usage.
  • Backup and Recovery applications - preferably experienced with Legato Networker & Adic Libraries.
  • Storage and Host multi-pathing applications.
  • LTO4 Tape Libraries.
  • Data replication for disaster recovery.

Other expectations:

  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel to Denver, Colorado, USA for minimum of 3 weeks after hire for intense training with existing Storage engineering staff. Candidate must also be willing and able to travel to Denver CO and Boston MA USA at various times for various collaboration activities.
  • Candidate should have very good written and verbal communications skills. Should be able to work independently with minimum supervision from onsite locations. Should be willing to work on extended and irregular hours when required.
